This workshop is for expectant parents who are interested in raising their children in a respectful way right from the start, preparing you for the time after birth. It will give you the knowledge, confidence and peace of mind to start this beautiful journey with respect, support and harmony.
Parents-to-be have a lot to think about before their new baby arrives. Don’t worry, this is not going to give you more things you have to remember to do. In fact, most of the time respectful parenting requires you to do LESS and ultimately it’s about trusting your instincts as a parent, trusting nature and trusting your baby.
Often we prepare for the birth itself, which of course is the most important part of bringing a healthy baby into the world, but what happens after? We suddenly find ourselves holding this tiny human not knowing what to do or say, worrying about how to respond to their cries or how to play with them.
In this workshop we will prepare for:
- Creating a peaceful transition for your baby from the womb into this world.
- Forming a secure attachment during the period of symbiosis in the 4th trimester (the 3 months after birth).
You will learn how to:
- setup your home environment to support your child’s natural gross motor and play development
- observe your baby and be responsive to their needs in a calm and respectful way.
- perform care-giving activities (bathing, changing nappies, dressing, feeding) in a gentle and respectful way.
This workshop is based on current research on child development and brain development, attachment theory and the teachings of Maria Montessori & Magda Gerber.
